Moscow Mule

Jan 16, 04:12 PM

Yesterday I had the best ginger beer ever, and it was President’s Choice brand! That’s right, President’s Choice brand from the Real Canadian Superstore. And it was cheap. And it was so spicy it’d put hair on your chest. And I thought, wouldn’t this make the sparkiest Moscow Mule ever. Here’s the recipe:

2oz vodka
1oz lime juice
8 oz ginger beer (president’s choice brand or something else kicky)
pour over ice, stir gently.

Now, my friend Jennifer said that her parents drink moscow mules at the cabin in Manitoba, where there is no electricity and only the sweet sounds of the loons and her dad’s acoustic guitar to keep them entertained. And they always drink their moscow mules out of tin cups. When I asked her why, she claimed that they tasted better that way.
I think this is quite romantic, so if you are serving them to guests at home and you want to create that Manitoba lake country feel, go to your local camping supply store (3 vets or tinland kitchen supplies in Vancouver) and buy a stack of cheap tin enamel cups, mix up your mules, put some Neil Young on the record player, and let Manitoba come to you.
